Admission Process


It is the overall aim of International School Brunei to provide a quality admissions process which fully outlines the school’s educational choices and which provides potential  parents and students with the necessary experience and information to make an informed decision about their choice of a new school. ISB provides an extensive academic curriculum and the vast majority of school leavers go on to Higher or Further Education and additionally, ISB’s mission is to be as inclusive as possible. The school caters for a range of ability levels; it does not operate an academically selective policy and it endeavours to provide the same, high quality education to students with additional needs, wherever possible, given the resources at hand.

  • Admission Process To apply for admissions, the following documents are required to submit to the school:
  • Completed Application of Admission Form
  • Non Refundable Application Fee of B$200.00
  • Parent Questionnaire
  • Copy of Student’s Birth Certificate
  • Copy of Student’s Passport Student’s Photo (2 pcs)
  • Student’s Medical Records
  • Student’s Academic Reports
  • Copy of both Father and Mother’s Passport
  • Copy of both Father and Mother’s Brunei IC, if applicable

Once the application has been submitted, applicants shall be informed by the school on the assessment and interview session. Provided all paperwork is in order and there are no issues arising from interview and diagnostics, we aim to admit within five school days.

Overseas applicants can request the diagnostic assessment test to be performed at the applicant’s current school.

Fees at

Application Fee (Strictly Non-Refundable)

This is payable upon initial application to the school. Initial assessment cannot take place until this fee has been paid. Application fee does not guarantee a place, but it will entitle a child to a place on an appropriate waiting list in the event that the year group is full.

All returning students of the school are required to repeat the registration process and pay the appropriate application fee.


Withdrawal Deposit (Refundable)

All students are required to pay the withdrawal deposit upon admittance. Parents who intend to withdraw their children from the school for any reason must give at least one (1) term’s notice in order to be able to qualify for the refundable deposit. Any refund on notice under a term will be based on evidence provided and the refund decision is at the discretion of the Executive Principal.

The deposit will only be returned when all accounts are settled; all books and curriculum materials are returned to the School in acceptable condition.


Entrance Fee (Non-Refundable)

In addition to the tuition fee, each student enrolling in the School for the first time, from Pre-Kindy upwards, shall pay an Entrance fee. The Entrance Fees are strictly non-refundable and as far as possible will be set aside for capital development. There are 2 options for entrance fee. Under Option 1, entrance fee is payable in full upon admission, except for Pre-Kindy whereby 50% is payable upon admission and the other 50% is payable upon confirmation of continuation to Kindy. This is recommended for students forecast to remain over 2 years. Option 2 is for students who will be in the school for a planned period of less than two years. This option does not require a payment of Entrance fee, but an extra $500.00 per term in addition to the normal tuition fee. (Please refer to Option 2 on the Fees Schedule)

Note: Swapping from Option 2 to Option 1 can only be made after 7 termly payments under Option 2 have been made.

Pre-Kindergarten Entrance Fee (non refundable)

Children on the wait list will get priority entrance if 50% of the entrance fee is paid upon acceptance of this offer. The balance of the entrance fee is payable when the child moves up to Kindergarten and is not refundable. Should you not wish to take up this offer, your child will remain on the waiting list. 50% Entrance fee is payable as follows:

4th and Subsequent B$375.00

Visiting the

Visits can be arranged from Monday to Friday. Visits may include a tour of the campus and the International Residence (optional), a discussion with the Admissions Officer(s) and the opportunity to meet the Executive Principal and/or other members of the Leadership Team.

Foreign Student Pass

THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION and THE IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT require all Non-Bruneian students to have a Student Pass while studying in Brunei. Student Pass Application forms are available at the Admissions Office.

Documents required for processing the Student Pass :

  • A copy of the child’s Birth Certificate
  • A copy of the child’s passport details page and Dependent pass page
  • A copy of the parent’s passport details page and Employment pass page

Once approved by the Ministry of Education, parents are required to take the passport and the approved letter to the Immigration Department for endorsement purposes. Kindly returned the Green copy to the school for record purposes.
