Council of International Schools (CIS) accreditation
International School Brunei is currently accredited through the Council of International Schools (CIS) www.cois.org, having successfully achieved accreditation status in 2005. Successful CIS accreditation means that ISB has met detailed criteria which rate the school to the same standard as a range of international schools around the world. ISB is very proud to hold CIS accreditation as it highlights the quality and international nature of education provision at ISB. The accreditation cycle takes place over 10 years; ISB has just initiated the new process of accreditation to be completed by 2015.
As part of the accreditation process, we will be seeking input from all ISB’s stakeholders: The Board, Staff, Parents and Students. We will be seeking your feedback about the school, its operation and educational provision via a survey in the first weeks of the new academic year. Parents will be able to complete the survey quickly and easily online. It is important that as many parents as possible take part in the survey so as to give the school as wide a range of information as possible.
The Steering CommitteeThe CIS Steering Committee has been set up and comprises of:
| Chair: | Sheila Crocker |
| Co-Chair: |
Carol Hancox |
| Primary Rep: | Julie Smith |
| Secondary Rep: | Dave Bracken |
This committee will oversee and coordinate the administration of the Accreditation Process, which includes the administration of the surveys, selection of the Sub Committees for the Self Review, completion of Part I and III and to arrange the visit by the CIS Accreditation Team.
Timeframe
The time frame of the Accreditation Process is approximately 18 months, which allows adequate time for all stakeholders to be involved and reflect, make recommendations and improve on current practice and provision in schools.

The Pre-Visit Report
|
In March 2013, a small visiting team from CIS, visited the school to determine whether or not the school was in the position to continue with the accreditation process. This visit was a success in two ways: One, being that we have been given the approval to continue with the Re-accreditation Process. The second, was the Pre-Visit Report which gives detailed recommendations on areas that the school should focus on in preparation for the next visit. Successful CIS Accreditation 2004
ISB was the first school in Borneo to successfully complete the process. The award of CIS accreditation status reflects the school matching or exceeding internationally agreed standards. As such, parents and prospective parents have since been assured that ISB offers an educational experience that is of the highest standard.
