Executive Principal's Message

Updated by  Administrator

Welcome to the ISB Website which I hope is going to give you a useful insight into our school community and life for young people in Brunei.

Those of us who have lived in Brunei for some time are very conscious of its 'safe haven' status in a region fraught with political tension. Brunei enjoys a political and social harmony, which is reflected in the comfortable interaction of the various communities at ISB.

Although there are over 30 nationalities represented in the school from a broad variety of cultural backgrounds, they share the common goal of working together in preparing for adult roles that are far less predictable than they were a generation ago. Flexible learning, team building and leadership skills are consistent threads running through a curriculum with a strong emphasis on technology and languages as well as traditional subjects in the Sciences, Arts and Humanities.

We pride ourselves on the welcoming atmosphere that we engender. Students joining us from overseas and from the local community immediately feel the sense of warmth and ease of interaction within our school. Preparing young people to be global citizens while stressing the importance of their own cultural heritage, is one of our most important aims. Although our curriculum is derived from the English national system, the introduction of the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme in 2001 assisted us in our pursuit of a more global outlook, at the same time achieving greater interaction with the host country culture. We value our host country communities and purposely endeavour to reach out, through school and community based initiatives, as a way of reciprocating their kindness and hospitality.

ISB is proud to be serving Brunei Darussalam as the only fully accredited international school on Borneo.*

*Accredited by the Council of International Schools in February 2005
