ISB Primary Newsletter – Issue 7
Dear Parents
Another short week but still managing, it seems, to contain 5 days worth of activities.
On Wednesday we held our very first ‘Movember’ assembly with a proliferation of moustaches both real and fake. This was closely followed by our first Primary Disco which was thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attended. I was very impressed with some of the moves on the dance floor, both from the children and Mrs. Smith! In addition $542 was raised towards our three FOBISSEA trips this year.
We finished the week with our Christmas assemblies where there was a variety of wonderful performances from the children, Studio Scene and a visit by Santa.
I would like to offer thanks on behalf of myself and the Primary staff to Mr. Glenn Fawcett and his company MWHC Konsultan who kindly purchased our new sound system for us that was used in both the Primary disco and the Christmas assemblies.
I hope you all have a restful weekend as we approach the last week of this term.

Kindy Messy Play

The children started by watching the sequences based on the music from Disney’s Fantasia. This was followed by a selection of activities including fly swat painting, mixing paints, working with bubbles, making snowflakes and dancing painted footprints.

The children’s smiles and responses are an indication of their feelings about the activities.

‘Movember’ Assembly
All through the month of November various members of the male Primary staff have been growing moustaches as part of ‘Movember’. This is a worldwide campaign to raise awareness around men’s health issues and to raise money for medical research.

These attempts to grow moustaches met with a wide degree of success and caused many comments from wives, other staff and students throughout the last month. On Wednesday to celebrate the end of ‘Movember’ we gave students and the female staff the opportunity for a dollar donation to wear their own moustaches for the day.

We also held a special assembly where the students were able to vote for the best moustache whilst raising more funds. After a series of recounts the top three moustaches were awarded as follows:

1st = Mr. Min
2nd = Mr. Smith
3rd = Mr. Sibley

In total on the day we raised over $700 dollars which will be added to the money that Secondary have collected. I would like to thank the 11 staff in Primary who sacrificed their dignity and good looks for this worthwhile cause and our students who always join in with enthusiasm and commitment when raising money for any good cause.

Christmas Assembly
On Friday we had our fantastic performances in our Christmas assemblies. In the KS1 assembly we had performances from Mr. Daniel’s Junior Hip Hop Group, Mr. Chris’ Violin and Guitar Group, the Junior Ballet group, the Primary Choir, the Studio Scene Dancers and Year 2 who closed the assembly with their rendition of Jingle bells.

In the KS2 assembly we had performances from Year 4, Mr. Daniel’s Senior Hip Hop Group, Mr. Chris’ Violin and Guitar Group, Mrs. Payne’s Zumba group, the Studio Scene Dancers and the Primary Choir who closed the assembly with their versions of ‘Little St Nick’ and ‘Jingle Bell Rock’.

Both assemblies also had a special from Santa who presented Christmas cookies to all the children. I would like to personal thank Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to make a special visit to ISB.
