ISB Primary News – Issue 13 (10.02.2012)

Dear Parents

This week saw Year 4 visiting the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre, after a long bus journey the Year 4 students had a thoroughly enjoyable interesting time at the centre. They learnt many interesting facts and were able to write some fantastic newspaper reports the following day about their experiences.

On Saturday morning 290 of our students plus teachers and parents had the fantastic opportunity of taking part in the London 2012 Paralympic Games Flag Raising and Olympic Torch Relay with 1948 London Olympics Torch. Our students ran the 2^nd out of eight legs along with a host of other schools and organisations. It was a real privilege for some of our students to represent the school in this way and they also had an opportunity to touch the torch for a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’.

I also need to extend my apologies for the error in communication this week regarding our Year 1-6 Open morning on Friday. A letter to parents did not go out so many of you were given very short or no notice of this event. We will be holding a 2^nd open morning for Years 1-6 this Friday (17^th February) for those parents who were unable to attend on Friday due to the lack of notice.

Brunei Junior Sports League

This year is the first season of the Brunei Junior Sports League and over the last few months we have been competing in Football and T-Ball against some of the other International schools in Brunei. Our performances have been mixed but the Year 5 and Year 6 Girl’s Football team and the Year 6 T-Ball team have excelled both topping their respective tables after Week 3. All the children who take part in these matches always represent the school with passion and commitment and I would like to congratulate them on their performances so far.
