Learning Support Department

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Some children may need extra help with English because this is not their first language. We assess the English levels of pupils to see if they need extra help. Most of this extra help is provided as part of the normal school day, but we do have some after school classes in Years 5 and 6.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The curriculum provides flexibility to respond to the individual learning needs of pupils. The Learning Support department assesses students with specific learning difficulties and works with parents and students to determine education plans. These plans are designed to meet individual learning needs and enable students to access the curriculum. As much learning as possible is supported in the classroom. On occasion, students are withdrawn from lessons for specific support and where necessary specialist support may be provided. All education plans are reviewed regularly and parents are kept informed at all stages. There will be an additional charge for learning support, if it is required.

Please note that additional support for EAL and SEN is chargeable.

More information is available in the Primary Learning Support booklet.
