SECONDARY
Student Voice - HOMEPAGE
-Soon-
Welcome to the inaugural Student Voice Committee of the International School of Brunei. This committee serves to represent the opinions and views of the students in this international, diverse school. The students on the committee have been chosen through their determination and abilities as the representatives of these students. As the Student Voice, we serve to give the best quality of school life possible for the student body through student-initiated activities and programmes that suit the students’ needs. The Student Voice consists of a committee of 6 Student Voice Consultants (SVCs), 3 from Year 10 and 3 from Year 12 under the control of the Student Voice President (Year 12) and Vice President (Year 10) who then liaises with the Student Voice Teacher-Supervisor and the Secondary Principal to approve of their actions. In this website, you will see current events involving the Student Voice, any news relating to the school that has been undertaken by the Student Voice and even photos of the events that have been initiated by the Student Voice. We hope you enjoy looking through the website and we look forward to hearing your opinion so that your voice can be heard!
Hello, my name is Natasha and I am the Student Voice President for 2012. I would like to welcome you to our website whether you are a staff member, student or parent. This year the Student Voice Council has been ‘revamped’ and has branched out to encompass several sub-committees: Environment, Social, Sports, Learning, Press and Finances/ Fundraising.
We are in the process of planning several events for the student body such as a ‘Talent Show’, football (soccer) tournament, Student Voice logo competition and lots more. I encourage you to keep up with what we are doing through this website, but also for you to contact us.
Nothing that this Student Voice Council achieves is possible without the support of you, as well as the rest of the members: Isaac (Vice President), Sujith (Fundraising/Finance), Marcelo (Social), Felmen (Sport) Marianne (Environment), Dean (Press) and Joshua (Learning) as well as the support of Mr Richard Edwards.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to meeting you during this year.

Natasha Birimac,
President, Student Voice
The social aspect of Student Voice is of great importance as it allows us to communicate with the rest of the Student Body, with the parents and teachers of ISB and with the Bruneian community as a whole. As Press Officer, my duties are to update the website, keep the Student Voice notice board up to date and to generally inform everyone in the student body of events and happenings within Student Voice. It would be my best suggestion to check the website for all the important events and notices that will be going on throughout the year. I’ve also been assigned to post the pictures of the events that have occurred in this Student Voice administration on the website to show all of the memories of our past events. For instance, the Valentine’s Day Social was a major success on Student Voice’s part and I’d like to thank everyone who came and had a great time. We’ll be planning more events throughout the year, so keep up with us via our website.

Dean Benavidez,
Student Voice Consultant (Press), Student Voice
The opinions of the Student Body are of utmost value to us, and we want to hear your voice heard. You can contact us directly or through our e-mail address at isbstudentvoice12@gmail.com. We will be roaming around in school during break or lunch times but every Wednesday lunchtime, we’ll set up a table where you can express your views to us.
Should you wish to speak with a specific member of Student Voice, you can always approach them in school or through their respective e-mail accounts.

As a member of Student Voice, by taking their opinions into account and making their thoughts a reality, I hope to satisfy the student body as the students of ISB are the ones who go to school to learn, socialise and grow to be independent and it’s only fair that they spend that time in a place they enjoy. I also oversee anything related to the environment and as the Student Voice Consultant for Environment, I am the Student Voice liaison with the ISB Eco Action Team, responsible for applying environmental practices within school in hopes of getting the Green Flag Award from Eco-Schools UK, which would make ISB the first school outside of the UK to get the Green Flag award. If you have any suggestions, whether it's Eco-related or otherwise, feel free to approach me anytime.

Student Voice Consultant (Environment), Student Voice
The social lives of the students are of utmost importance as it allows for entertainment and encouraging social interactions amongst the Student Body. As the Student Voice Consultant for Social/Performing arts, I find it very challenging to organize events for my peers and very satisfying. Currently, with the help of the rest of Student Voice, we are working on an “ISB’s Got Talent” event where students show off their talents in front of others. We are also working on “Live Below The Line” charity event where we encourage students to live on BND 2.80 per day. Something we have already done is a very successful Valentine’s Day social. I am looking forward for the rest of my time as Social representative in the Student Voice Council.

Student Voice Consultant (Social/Performing Arts), Student Voice
Sports play a vital role and are invaluable in the life of a student. As the Student Voice Consultant for Sports, it is very important for us to instil various sports programs throughout the entire school year to help students learn values like discipline, responsibility and self-confidence. We just a “3-point shootout” during one of our lunchtimes where we had students shoot from the 3-point line in their hopes that they get the ball in the hoop, the proceeds from which will go towards the Typhoon Sendong relief fund. We’re also planning a football tournament for all of Secondary to participate in. As you can see, not only does this shape and prepare these students in sports, but also in their everyday lives, as exercise is one of the core tenets of living healthily and being able to be on top with their schoolwork. I hope to see many achievements in the sporting field throughout the year.
