ISB achieves Eco-Schools International Green Flag Award
Tuesday, 10th December 2024 – International School Brunei (ISB) has once again been awarded the Eco-Schools International Green Flag Award, marking another key milestone in the school’s commitment towards sustainability and environmental awareness.
ISB was officially awarded the Green Flag, a mark of global recognition held by schools implementing Education for Sustainable Development and continuously improving the sustainability performance of the school as well as the wider community.
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in its review said that this award is well deserved and reflects both the hard work as well as ISB’s strong commitment to sustainability and the Eco-Schools Programme.
To mark the arrival of the Green Flag Award at ISB, a group photo session was recently held with Mr. Dominic Morley, Executive Principal and Chief Executive Officer of ISB; Ms. Vienna Law, General Manager of ISB; Mr. David Mark Evans, ISB’s Eco-Coordinator; and ISB’s Eco Warriors, a team of passionate and driven students who lead various environmentally-focused initiatives.
Mr. David Mark Evans said, “We’ve completed meaningful projects and hosted impactful initiatives in our mission to be eco-friendly. This isn’t just any award – it’s proof of our dedication to sustainability. This incredible achievement is going to fuel our passion even more as we continue to inspire and educate future generations about environmental awareness.”
Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Dominic Morley said, “I am delighted ISB has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag award, which reflects our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and education. This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire community towards fostering green practices and a sustainable future.”
“We are incredibly proud of ISB’s long established green credentials and the positive impact we are making on the environment. This award is not just a symbol of our achievements, but a reminder of our ongoing responsibility to uphold and advance our eco-friendly initiatives,” added Mr. Morley. “Thank you to everyone, our students (particularly our extremely persuasive and active Eco Warriors), staff, and parents, who contributed to this remarkable accomplishment. Together, we are making a difference, and I am excited for the sustainable strides we will continue to take in the future.”
ISB first achieved the Green Flag Award in 2012, making it the first school in Borneo to do so. The latest achievement of this award this year coincides with the 60th anniversary of ISB, marking six decades of inclusive academic excellence.
