ISB students win 109 medals at Under-13 FOBISIA Games
Tuesday, 19th March 2024 – Student athletes from International School Brunei (ISB) produced an exceptional performance at the recent Under-13 Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) Games 2024 at the Pattana Sports Resort in Thailand, winning an impressive 109 medals, including 63 gold, 27 silver, and 19 bronze.
A total of 20 ISB students including Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah Binti Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah competed at the event. The ISB contingent was made up of the strongest under-13 athletes in the school as well as three accompanying teachers.
The Games, held from 25th to 29th February 2024, encompassed both individual activities and team sports, where participants competed in athletics, basketball, football, and swimming. The event saw ISB’s student athletes compete against international schools from China, Malaysia, South Korea, and Vietnam.
During a celebratory assembly following their achievements, the ISB under-13 team extended their gratitude to their coaches for running training sessions and providing support before and during the Games. The contingent also thanked Bello Café, Ishajaya Technology Sdn Bhd, and New Star Box for their support and contribution to the team.
Mr. Dominic Morley, Executive Principal and CEO of ISB said, “Winning 109 medals is incredible. Congratulations to the whole team for such a fantastic achievement. In addition to the medals, the fact that they have participated and striven to achieve their best is important. I’d also like to thank the students’ parents for encouraging their children to come along and be part of the ISB team.”
Ms. Alison Venn, Physical Education Teacher at ISB said, “It has been a real pleasure to coach these athletes. They have made both ISB and their parents proud. Every one of those 109 medals was very well deserved.”
The FOBISIA Games is an annual three-day sporting competition involving international schools in Asia. It provides an opportunity for students to compete on the international stage against other athletes from the region’s international schools.
