Speeches by Guest of Honour

The morning of tree planting was kicked off by Glen Rase who planted the first tree and it was at this point Mr Taylor presented Citibank with a certificate from the Million Trees Project.

The group of Citibank employees and families and ISB students were then given a quick demonstration on how to plant a tree and then we were divided up into groups to go to the zones to start planting.

After an hour of planting trees in our designated zone there was a real sense of achievement to look back on an area which was now more densely covered.  Not only was this rewarding but so was the spread of food provided by RBC for a mid morning refreshment.

We took the opportunity to have a group photo and Mr Taylor also presented Mr Glen Rase with a special Million Trees tie pin for contributing 1000 trees to the ISB Million Trees Project.  After a short break, we then ventured into a different area to plant even more trees, this time, progress seemed a little slower as we had to dig our own holes.

The aim of the morning was to plant 1000 trees, and although not all were planted that morning, the students learned a lot about how to correctly plant a tree and cooperated well together using each others strengths to so and took great pride in counting the number of trees they had planted.  The Year 12 CAS students have been invited back to continue with the planting over the next few weeks.
