‘The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle’ musical showcase opens at ISB

Tuesday, 4^th June 2024 – International School Brunei (ISB) held the first showing of its 60^th anniversary musical production showcase, The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle this evening at the ISB theatre.

The school production is a delightful musical based on the classic story of a quirky veterinarian with an extraordinary gift of being able to talk to animals, and it features a cast and crew of some 200 ISB students from primary and secondary with teachers and staff.

This unique adaptation, inspired by the book and film, was written specifically for ISB, and whisks the audience away on a journey from a quaint English village to exotic locations as Dr. Dolittle embarks on a quest to find the legendary Great Pink Sea Snail.

The experience is one filled with laughter, music, and the power of understanding creatures great and small, while also exploring the wonders of friendship, empathy, and the importance of understanding and respecting all living beings.

Mr. Dominic Morley, Executive Principal and Chief Executive Officer of ISB said, “This play, brought to life by the dedication and talent of our wonderful, hard-working pupils, is a testament to ISB’s commitment to inclusive international education and excellence. Throughout the rehearsals, the children have demonstrated incredible enthusiasm, passion and tenacity to develop the skills and courage to perform.”

Ms. Daisy Cole, Performing Arts Teacher at ISB and Director of the production said, “Our talented cast and crew, made up of students from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of abilities, have worked tirelessly to create a magical experience for you. Their passion, dedication and creativity shine through in every scene and we are immensely proud of their hard work. Also, thank you to our incredible production and facilities team.”

Four shows are scheduled for The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle, with a performance taking place each day from Tuesday, 4^th June 2024 to Friday, 7^th June 2024. Tickets for the remaining shows can be purchased at the ISB Front Office.

The school production coincides with ISB’s 60^th anniversary year, marking six decades of inclusive academic excellence since the school was first established in 1964.
