The exhibition is a special showcase of creative sarong prints, themed ‘Tribes of the World’, and features artwork made by ISB’s Year 5 students, celebrating their creativity, cultural exploration, and artistic growth.

As part of their creative process, the children broke down traditional patterns into simplified shapes to design repeatable printing templates. Using clay, cardboard, and PVA, they applied various printing techniques to produce bold, wearable works of art.

For the exhibition, each Year 5 student has contributed a unique piece, with 21 standout sarongs displayed prominently on the main gallery wall, while the remaining sarongs are available for interactive use—visitors are encouraged to try them on and take photographs, bringing the artwork to life in a truly immersive way.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Muhammad Aiman is among the Year 5 students with artwork featured at the event.

In remarks at the exhibition’s launch, Mr. Dominic Morley, Executive Principal and CEO of ISB, said, “At ISB, we believe in both inclusive education and academic excellence—a space where every child has the chance to thrive, express themselves, and excel in their own way. Art is a reflection of that philosophy, giving students the freedom to communicate ideas, emotions, and perspectives beyond textbooks. It teaches resilience, problem-solving, and confidence—the kind of excellence that shapes not just artists, but future leaders.”

“Through this showcase, we see not only creativity but the thoughtful, academically excellent work of our students, demonstrating their ability to think critically, express complex ideas, and engage meaningfully with the world around them,” added Mr. Morley.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mark Rossow, Head of Year 5 at ISB, said, “This exhibition is more than a display—it is a vibrant snapshot of ISB’s dynamic curriculum and commitment to purposeful learning. Our process to achieving a successful outcome takes considered planning, practice, resilience, and more, which is very much linked to the purpose of the learning. This encourages the development of our children’s interest, ownership, and drive. This is just one area of our curriculum we wanted to share.”

Hart Living is the official event partner and venue sponsor for the art exhibition. Ms. Sheryl Tong, General Manager of Hart Living, said, “Through collaborations, workshops, and community-driven events, Hart actively supports local initiatives and aspires to become a trusted furniture brand in Bruneian homes.”

The exhibition was open to the public on Friday and Saturday, 13th and 14th June 2025, at Hart Living, Kiulap High Street, from 9.30am to 7.30pm (closed from 12pm to 2pm on Friday).
